Boots and socks

The Boots:
I broke down and went to Edmonton to look for new boots. I decided the others were just not cutting it. My feet were not feeling good within 2 km. Tonight I hiked 6.3 km in the new ones (Salomon) and all seems well. Bought size 8, a half size up from my normal shoe. Noticed a couple of small blister spots that I will cover tomorrow when I walk. Picked up the Compeed today to cover the huge blister on my heal. It doesn't hurt, just keeps popping back up. May need to buy more before I go.
The Socks: Smart Wool, work great so far. $20 a pair. I will take three pairs. Check!
I am wondering how the feet will feel once the distance starts to increase. I will work in the boots for a few more days to see how it goes and then start increasing the distance. Seem to be walking about 4 mph in the valley including a few hills, up and down. Carried some weight today but not my pack. I will slowly integrate that into the training, increasing the weight and workouts. I am going to watch a few videos on You Tube to get a feel for some of the physical challenges.
I want to take a before and after picture of the boots.
Also picked up pants with zip off legs and base layer leggings. Got a wicking shirt. I am afraid I have a grey and black theme going on. I will have to brighten the costume some how. Any ideas??

Here are my boots. Before picture!
