Getting Close!
The walk was great today, walking through small villages, farms and rural paths. It was the first day to see eucalyptus trees that were brought in years ago to replace the native oak trees. The interesting little structures that were starting to appear everywhere were storage granaries for drying corn. We stopped to wait for cows being herded along the trail a couple of times today and I  took pictures of tractors to show my dad.
Pam  and I  arrived in Palas del Rey at 4:15 pm and checked into a hotel there. We didn’t  even consider the albergue today. We met other pilgrims gathering at an outside bar for wine and beer. We met Vito from Italy, who spoke and understood very little English. Pam knows Italian so they were able to converse but I did not  understand much of the conversation. Also met Josephine from Sweden who started out walking but was now cycling the camino after she was injured and couldn’t walk it. She would ride ahead of her friends everyday and wait for them.

Pam and I bought wine, sausage, bread, cheese and olives to eat in our room. We were getting excited to get to  Santiago and I was quite certain that I would walk on to the ocean to Finistere. I wanted a scallop shell from the ocean at the end of the world!
