Stage Thirty-Three- Palas del Rey to Arzua

30 km
November 10, 2011
Three days to go!
It was a beautiful walk today and I took lots of pictures and savoured the sights and sounds and smells around me. We walked 30 km today, most of which was gradual  downhill and much flatter. We walked through a beautiful eucalyptus forest.

Pam and I laughed when we came across the sign in this picture.

When we reached Arzua, a modern industrial town, we passed several private albergues but continued into the downtown area. We came across an albergue, but when we walked in it was full of loud young spanish men and the room was just like a sauna. I quickly made an about turn and said "Not a chance!" We then had to back track, checking out the municipal albergue but they did not provide blankets. Pam was travelling without a sleeping bag and relied on albergues having blankets when it got cooler. We made it back to the albergues we had passed and found a very nice private one and got our own room.

That night we joined Cecile, Andreas ( Danish) and Arnie (Belgian) for pilgrims dinner.  We had met them in Sarria at the pilgrims dinner 3 nights before. We were also joined by John, an American man (70), who had been walking since St. John Pied de Port.
